Overall Job Responsibilities: The Bar Manager will be responsible for managing, monitoring and controlling all aspects of the clubhouse and its facilities. West Kent Golf Club is a well-established and highly respected private members' club located in an attractive rural setting between Downe Village and Down House. We are currently looking to appoint a Food & Beverage Manager to oversee and manage the front of house staff to deliver a quality and smooth-running Food and Beverage department for the Golf Club. This will include maintaining excellent service and delivering a memorable and enjoyable experience to all members and guests. Your ultimate aim will be to help establish West Kent Golf Club as a venue with an outstanding reputation for its food & hospitality.

 

Responsibilities:

To maintain the smooth running of the Bars/Restaurant in the Clubhouse & Course refreshments for the benefit of all customers of West Kent Golf Club.

Plan the staff rota which will be created and advertised at least two weeks in advance. Monitoring staffing levels to control costs and ensuring we can meet our customer service levels is integral to this process. Signing of time sheets for the department’s hours.

Induction and training of all Front of House staff in line with agreed standards, and uphold the quality standards required to be maintained in the department.

To provide leadership and lead by example in your department and help front of house staff to deliver the required standards in their service.

To maintain consistent and effective communication with all front of house staff and to ensure the smooth running of the catering operation. This will take the form of good written and verbal communication.

* Oversee the Club’s cleaning contractors and make sure the Clubhouse, car parks and surrounding areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition.

Implement the Club’s dress code.

Manage members in line with responsible drinking laws.

Meeting relevant pre-set margins on food and drink sales. This will involve keeping central margin spreadsheets up to date and agreeing all invoices with the accounts department.

Control cash handling and cash up procedures in line with policies and procedures set by the Club, ensuring that any queries are rectified with accounts in a timely fashion.

Take responsibility for carrying out stock control and meeting the independent stock takers.

Ensure legal requirements and standards of hygiene and health and safety detailed in your department are met and front of house staff are fully compliant in all areas.

Agreed quality standards are achieved consistently with respect to food, beverage and customer service in the Clubhouse and golf course hospitality.

On top of staff cost control through good rota planning and recruitment you will be expected to assist in the monitoring and control of other costs to the department wherever possible.

Suggest ideas and implement improvements for developing the catering and bar business.

 

Knowledge & Requirements of the role:

 

A good understanding of Bar & Catering Services within a quality hospitality environment.

Excellent Customer Service Skills & be able to liaise easily with Member’s & Guests.

Excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate good leadership to colleagues

An understanding of Weights and Measures, Food Act, Trade Descriptions and Health and Safety (In–house training provided as well).

Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

Flexible with days of work, which will include weekends, bank holidays and evenings.

Food service is an important integral part of the golf club, operating seven days a week serving early breakfast, lunches, and evening meals for golf members, societies and visitors, together with many evening social functions.
