Ely City Golf Club is a private member’s club, established in 1962, situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Ely City. Our venue is a regular host of County golf events, as well as numerous well attended Open Competitions annually. The Club has over 750 members to cater for there is also a huge potential for attracting new business including, but not limited to, restaurant evenings, parties, and business meetings.

 

The recently refurbished clubhouse has a large lounge and dining room with panoramic views over the Golf Course and capacity for approximately 120 covers for dining. There is also an opportunity to use the kitchen for external catering/functions.

 

Previous Golf Club catering experience would be an advantage, but more importantly, the successful applicant should be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver an excellent and varied dining experience for both the members and visitors alike, ranging from bar snacks to large dinners and functions.

 

The Club will not be expecting any commission from the successful candidate(s) but there will be a small utility charge for using the kitchen. A detailed statement of requirement is available on request.

The caterer will be expected to provide short order items, and light meals on a day to day basis. In addition, the Club has a busy golfing and social calendar and the caterer will provide high quality meals for matches, member functions, private dining, and visiting golfing groups.  Our restaurant has 70 covers, and the other club house lounges are used throughout the day for casual dining.  The Club also offers accommodation for up to 8 golfers on site and there is an opportunity to develop demand from these guests for breakfast and evening dining.

 

The club provides the kitchen and its equipment and is responsible for the maintenance and replacement of equipment and payment of utilities.

 

Ideally, the successful candidates would be able to demonstrate the following:

* Be passionate about food and customer service

* Develop all standard menus plus bespoke menus to cater for a broad range of events from buffets, bar meals to fine dining

* IT literacy including Microsoft Office and EPOS systems.

* Budget, pricing, and cost management skills.

* While not essential, a love of golf and understanding of members clubs would be very welcome.

 

The Opportunity

 

While this is a franchise opportunity, the successful partner will be an integral part of our club, becoming well known among the members and supported by them.  We have a great mix of all ages and people. 

 

There is nothing more enjoyable than walking out on to our large terrace that overlooks both the first tee and 18th green as players start and finish their round.   The terrace is a summer sun trap and is always buzzing on important golf days.  Food and drink are critical to that special atmosphere which is why your partnership would be highly valued.

The Role:

We are looking to recruit a proactive, hands-on, energetic Bar Manager to lead our clubhouse team.

The Bar manager will ensure the efficient day-to-day running of clubhouse services, with the role being critical in maintaining a welcoming, first-class experience in the clubhouse for both our guests and members.

 

Responsible to - The Club General Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Hospitality

* Set service standards in the clubhouse, delivering a friendly, courteous, and proactive bar service to all Club members and visitors.

* Monitor and uphold bar service standards to ensure they are being met.

* Manage and welcome Golf Societies and other visitors, making sure that they are aware of arrangements made for them and of the Club’s dress rules.

* Proactively liaise with event organisers to determine finer details for events (final numbers, dietary requirements etc.),

* Work closely with the catering team to help deliver a fully integrated service  

* Manage the clubhouse beverage staff, including staffing levels, recruitment, training, performance, and discipline

* Work closely with the Head Chef in relation to all Club, Golf Society or functions, to ensure delivery of exceptional service and food.

* Organise staff rotas to ensure suitable staff cover is present at all times.

 

 

 

Cellar and Bar

 

* Manage the cellar and maintain bar stocks, purchasing stocks at competitive prices, consistent with good value and timely delivery.

* Ensuring that stocks are available for inspection by the Club’s stock taker on a regular basis.

* Ensure regular line cleaning is undertaken to uphold the quality of the drinks provided.

 

 

Health and Safety

* Create and maintain an active action plan to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

* Ensure that Health and Safety at Work policies and procedures are followed in the Clubhouse.

 

Suppliers

* Manage suppliers to optimise profitability and keep correct stock levels.

* Recommend changes to service levels and/or suppliers where product/performance is unsatisfactory and/or a better value supplier can be identified.

 

House Maintenance

* Maintain strict security of the clubhouse, including daily opening and closing times laid down by the Club Committee.

* Support the General Manager, catering and office staff, and Committees in organising meetings and events in the clubhouse where bar services are required.

* Ensure that all event costs are correctly charged.

 

 

 

The role of Bar Manager presents a real opportunity for the right person to manage, promote and develop clubhouse services across the membership, reporting to the General Manager, within a progressive and friendly environment.

Moor Hall Golf Club is a highly regarded members’ club in an attractive part of Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. It has a strong membership including, gentlemen, ladies and junior sections and is a popular venue for visiting golf societies.

 

The Club is in its 90th year and while having strong traditions has an ethos of inclusivity and respect for all.

 

A redevelopment programme undertaken within the last 3 years has brought about major improvements on the course and the development of the catering facilities has also recently been completed with further exciting plans for the bar facilities to commence shortly also.

 

The club has invested in the course and the clubhouse and is now looking for a Club-House manager to deliver our clubs vision in the clubhouse to;

 

* Provide an Environment that is inclusive to all members

* Develop the facility to create an atmosphere and enjoyment for all ages.

* Create Dining options from bespoke banqueting to relaxed lounge style catering

* Look to provide members with a relaxed social & sporting space.

 

The role of Club-House Manager presents a real opportunity for the right person to manage, promote and develop House services across the membership reporting to the Director of House, within a progressive and friendly environment.

 

Responsibilities

To oversee the Front of house activities delivered to members and guests via its bar and catering operations and the management of the club house needs including:

 

* Promoting and supporting Catering and Bar activities.

* Co-ordinating the overall delivery of activities for members in the clubhouse.

* Co-ordinating staff rotas to ensure suitable staff cover is present at all times.

* Manage our maintenance contractors to support the successful delivery of services,  maintain the building fabric in liaison with the office and manage all aspects of Health & Safety and Fire safety in the clubhouse.

* The role will include profit and loss accountability and drive revenue enhancement for all aspects of the Clubhouse.

* Work with the Office team to ensure the smooth running of functions and manage the processes and procedures the club has in place for such activities.

* Work closely with the Head Chef to promote catering options and actively market all clubhouse functions.

The role will require the necessary training of all staff in such matters of, but not exclusive to, first aid, fire safety, health and safety and ensure that reviews and records are updated and properly kept in accordance with the clubs processes and procedures.

* Ensure the clubhouse is opened and locked as required.

* Develop the Club’s offering for visiting Societies and Corporates.

 

You will be an ambassador for the club’s food and drink services and a representative for the Club, to members and guests and a role model for how service will be co-ordinated by team members.

 

This is a full-time position, in an exciting and dynamic club involving some evening and weekend work; it requires a person who will adopt a hands-on approach and is ambitious towards building a high-level of service to its club members.

 

 

Core Focus of the Role

The daily operational management and successful delivery of activities in the Clubhouse (Bar, Catering, and Maintenance). You will report to the Director of House and be responsible to the members for the overall running of the Club-House.

 

Experience:

We are looking for a person who has experience with the services of a Bar and Catering team.

You will have necessary IT skills to support the creation and development of information, Menu’s and Function sheets.

You will have people management skills and a good understanding of self-motivation and initiative, outgoing, presentable and an excellent communicator.

An attractive package will be offered based upon abilities and experience.
