Golf News - Seniors
An interesting month in more ways than one...
Competitions have continued to attract good numbers and at the same time we are able to field strong teams for the inter club matches.
There have been 3 competitions this month and the results are as follows:
5 May - Medal:- 1st Ted Howgego, 2nd Pat Ryan and 3rd Mal Clarke
26 May - 3/2/1:- 1st David Bland, Mike Ager and Gerry Markham,
2nd Mal Clarke, Irvin Bunker and Paul Sumner
3rd Tony Adams, Brian Page and Steve Auld
The Seniors Knock Out has reached the quarter final stage and the draw is: Mick Yates V Adrian Saggers, Kevin Dye or David Bland v Gerry Markham, Brian Page v Tony Adams and Phil Bright v Steve Summers. May the best men (on the day) win!!
I'm reporting early on the second round of the Beaumont Trophy (2 June)where we lost by one hole to Diss, a very creditable performance in very windy conditions, well done to all concerned.
On the same day there was a big turn out for the Captain's Team v the President's Team. The results was close with the President's Team winning on the day and winning the series by 2 to 1.
On a personal note my thanks to Kevin Dye, Mick Suckling, Paul Sumner and John Campany for keeping the ball rolling while I've been incapacitated.
We have given a warm welcome to some new additions to our Tuesday numbers. The fact that they have returned indicates that they enjoy the competitions and the company.
The Seniors Knock Out has seen the preliminary and fist round matches completed in April, those still involved are looking forwards to the next round.
Inter club Seniors matches and the Knock Out have reduced the actual number of Tuesday competitions the results of which are below:
2 from 3 - Winners -- Steve Summers, Steve Auld and Mike Ager; Runners up -- John Campany, Mike Coe and Richard Jarrett
Texas Scramble - Winners --John Campany, David Duffell and Malcolm Clarke; 2nd -- Kevin Dye, Mike Ager and Ken Bannister; 3rd -- Paul Button, John Duffield and Mike Merry
Well done to everyone concerned.
Please continue to give your support to John Campany for the inter club Seniors' matches.
If anyone has to cry off please try to give John good notice so that he can find a replacement.
On a similar note, if people cry off from the Tuesday competitions either try to give good notice or find a replacement so that your playing partners are not left high and dry.

Rushmere Seniors’ Tuesday Competitions for January 2015
The results and winners of the first month’s competitions are as follows:
6 Jan - playing 3/2/1 resulted in a win for the team comprising Pat Ryan, Roy Hudson and Kevin Dye. The runners up were Tony Adams, Brian Page and Brian Trett
13 Jan – playing Betterball pairs saw Michael Coe and Ted Howgego coming in as winners with Peter Waters and Mick Yates as runners up
20 Jan – playing a stableford singles competition (in very frosty conditions) saw a win for Paul Sumner beating Adrian Saggers on countback (both with 39 points) and Brian Hemming coming in as a creditable third with 37 points
27 Jan – playing stableford with a blind draw for partners resulted in Kevin Dye and Warren Richards winning with a combined 77 points (40 from Warren) and Bob Moody and Clive Hamer in second place with 76 points (45 from Bob)
Well done to all our winners.
All four competitions were well supported, but there is always room for more.
If you are a senior and feel like a change of scenery then why not try joining us on Tuesdays – just put your name in the book. You will be given a warm welcome.
Now for the February competitions.
The Rushmere Senior Section started playing formally on Tuesday’s with about 20 players late 2012 and has now about 40 players entering the competitions.
The competitions are open to all Seniors within the Club so, if you are over 55 and want to increase your circle of playing friends, why not come a join us in one of our many Tuesday competitions. Have a look at the competitions below, there should be something of interest to everyone
New to our programme for the year will be a Seniors’ Knock Out Competition over the Spring and Summer months and a Seniors’ Section Championship in September.
