CHAMPIONSHIP

        Vivienne Kemp, Bury St. Edmunds Golf Club


SILVER SCRATCH SALVER [CHAMPIONSHIP].

The Silver Scratch Salver was purchased for the first Championship meeting in 1961 by the Committee at a cost of £17.
The competition was held at the Royal Worlington Golf Club, the first winner was Mrs C. Denness with a gross score of 82.

     Di Hegarty  Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club


SILVER HANDICAP, known as the Ardeen Clowes Cup was presented by the family of Ardeen Clowes in her memory in 1978. Ardeen played at Woodbridge Golf Club.

The first winner was J. [Peggy] Grimwade with a nett score of 70 winning on count back from Mrs I Gooch.


 

            Jean Emmerson - Fynn Valley Golf Club


BRONZE SCRATCH TROPHY, known as the Eddis Cup, was donated in1966 by Lady Eddis who chaired the first SVLGA meeting on the 17th April 1961; Lady Eddis died in 1986 and had been a member of the Aldeburgh Golf Club.
The competition was held at Purdis Golf Club the first winner was Mrs D Saunders. 



 

       Jane Goldsmith - Fynn Valley Golf Club


BRONZE HANDICAP The Sybil Voules Cup was presented in 1986 following members’ donations to purchase the cup. Sybil Voules was a member at Rushmere Golf Club; she was Secretary of the Vets for 12 years and died in office. The first winner was the Association’s President for that year Mrs M. [Nancy] Bell-Jones.

             Coral George - Fynn Valley Golf Club


STABLEFORD the Pat Brega Cup was presented in 2009 for the winner of the Stableford event at the Championship. Pat Brega was Captain of the Vets in 2008 and President 2012 and is a member of Bury St Edmunds Golf Club. The first winner was P. Palmer.
 

FOURSOMES

This competition is now a 4 Ball Better Ball played over 18 holes

Gill Till & Diane Clarke from Ufford Park

 

The Nancy Causton Cups were presented in 1977 for the best aggregate score in the autumn meeting Foursomes. Nancy was a founder member of the Vets and President of the Vets in 1976 Nancy was a member at Woodbridge Golf Club, she died in 2007. Nancy was the only surviving member to attend the 40th Anniversary celebrations in her 90 year. The 40th celebrations were very successful and lead to the annual Spring Lunch


First winners were Mrs B Taylor and Mrs J Kerrison, who played at Purdis Golf Club.
 

President and Captains Salver


PRESIDENT AND CAPTAINS SALVER:

The President and Captains Salver was presented by Pam Nunn in 2002 in recognition of the Queens Golden Jubilee. Pam was President in 2002 and said she has enjoyed being a member of the Vets and wanted to give something back. 


 

SVLGA FLAG:



Mabel Woodwood who was President in 1980 arranged for the making of the flag and gifted to the Association in 1981.
