Junior Alliance Meeting Seckford GC Tuesday 30th May 2006
On a day when rainstorms and wind were the order of the day, plus a very penalising rough, 75 Juniors played in the re-scheduled Junior Alliance meeting. The overall prize was won by Michael Swann, playing off 2, with a fine 69. One to watch for in the future is James Markham, who playing off 28 (not for much longer), had a Gross 76 for his 54 points. Thanks are extended to Seckford Golf Club for giving courtesy of the course, and also to Pin High of Bixley Road, Ipswich for their assistance in part sponsoring the prizes. If players want to view their scores they can be found on the web site "How did I do?" under Seckford Golf Club. Our thanks also go to Seckford Golf Club meembers who manned their computer enabling the current leader of the competitions to be viewed in realtime.

On a clear if windy and sunny day, when we were promised showers, 6 Professionals and 65 players enjoyed the Southwold course with greens fast and true. The Professional prize was won by Robin Mann (Felixstowe Golf Range) with a level par 70. The four ball better ball stableford was won by the Haverhill pairing of Jim Walker and Les Turner with a fine 45 points.

After a slight delay due to early morning frost, 104 players including 4 Professionals enjoyed playing on a bright, fine, cold and windy day, the Diss course which was in good condition for the time of year. The format for the day was a four man Team Stableford, with the best two scores counting. The Professional prize was won by Steve Moye of Haverhill with a 74. The team event was won by a mixed team of Keith Davey (Bungay), and David Leeder, David Bailey and Tom Bailey, all from the home club, Diss.

On a day that was forecast to be full of snow showers but turned out to be a clear blue sky day, albeit a very cold one, 68 players including 5 Professionals enjoyed a course in fine condition for the time of year. Early starters had hard greens after overnight frost, but by 11 a.m. they were starting to thaw out. The Professional prize was won by Robin Mann (Felixstowe Golf Range) with a one over 73. The Four Ball Better Ball Stableford competition was won by the Stowmarket pairing of Trevor Holley and Paul Presland with 42 points.

Players who had started later in the day were the ones who were in the prizes, with the Four Ball prizes all coming with after 11.00 a.m. starts. The course was in excellent condition for the time of year. The Professionals prize was won by Tim Cooper of Newton Green, with a three over round of 73. The Four Ball Better Ball Stableford was won by the Fynn Valley/Felixstowe Ferry pairing of Danny Barton and Nick Denny on count-back with two other pairs on 40 points.

The format was Medal, the two best scores to count, and 3/4 Club handicap as allowance. Simon Dainty (Fynn Valley) and Kelvin Vince (Rushmere) shared the Professionals prize with scores of 71, one over par. The Team event was won by the Waldringfield team of Steve Richal, Roy Ross, Keith Keeble and Karl Deraveriere with a score of 129.

Alliance Meeting Stowmarket GC Sunday 23rd October 2005
140 players including 7 Professionals enjoyed playing at Stowmarket today. Apart from a few comments from the early starters on the heavy dew, the day was warm with clear skies and the course fine condition for the time of year. The Professional prize was shared between Robin Mann (Felixstowe Driving Range) and Steve Moye (Haverhill); both returned with a one-under-par 68. The four ball better ball Stableford was won by the Stoke-by-Nayland pairing of Bob Brown and John Walker with 46 points.
