The Club’s B&C operation is of significant value to the continued growth and security of the Club, the Club offers many variations of Catering and Social Events ranging from Golf Societies and Weddings to Dinner Dances and Birthday Parties.   • A proven track record in bar and catering management, preferably at a member’s golf club, sports club or successful gastro style public house.

  • Function administration and event management experience is essential.

The Club has a well-equipped kitchen with experienced staff and a recently re-furbished Lounge and Dining Room. Knowledge and understanding of a golf club environment and traditions would be an advantage but is not essential.

PACKAGE:

Salary is negotiable, dependant on the experience of the applicant. Additional incentives may be considered if agreed targets are met. On site accommodation is not currently available.

BAR FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY

Risbygate Sports Club is located just off the town centre of Bury St Edmunds and has 720 members who are able to enjoy various sporting and social activities throughout the year. The Club began life in 1912, however there has been reference to a bowling green on the site since 1795.

The site includes an outdoor bowling green, four hard tennis courts, two of which are floodlit for evening play, and an area for petanque outside. Inside it has a four rink bowling green, two squash courts, changing rooms and shower facilities. The clubhouse has a comfortable bar, meeting room and a large flexible function room.

As well as regular sporting events, including the prestigious Risbygate Masters Indoor Bowls Tournament attracting international bowlers,  the club itself puts on a number of well attended social functions throughout the year, and the function room and meeting room are well used with regular bookings from outside organisations including a twice monthly folk club with a regular attendance of around 40, The RAOB, Probus Club, ukulele group, a poetry club and various others. The club are very keen to develop social use of the facilities, and would expect the bar manager to be a significant part of that development.

Copthorne Golf Club is a busy private members’ club established in 1892. Situated in West Sussex between the towns of Crawley and East Grinstead, the club has excellent transport links, being just five minutes from the M23, 15 minutes from Gatwick airport and 20 minutes from Junction 7 of the M25.

The Club has 500 members and operates a busy calendar of competitions and matches, as well as having a thriving social golf scene.

The Management Committee has chosen to re-tender its franchise catering agreement and invites applications from companies or individuals with a keen interest in providing high quality food and service. Catering services include a full and varied bar snack menu, as well as function catering for up to 120 people. At present, most catering is golf-related but the Management Committee is keen to engage a caterer who is able to use their initiative to drive new business and increase turnover. The Clubhouse Manager will work with the Club Council and Club staff to provide food and beverages of a high standard for members, guests and visitors and produce quality menus for the well supported events and functions that are held regularly throughout the year at the Club.

Previous experience of working at a golf club is preferred, but not essential, and there is a requirement to be able to demonstrate the ability to adopt the traditions of the Club whilst enhancing its reputation through innovative ideas.

There is an adjoining three-bedroom cottage which would be included within the remuneration package.
