West Hove Golf Club is a well-established, private members’ 18-hole golf club situated close to Brighton in Sussex with a current membership of 600 members.

The club offers a well equipped kitchen and caters for a very busy calendar that includes club functions, wedding receptions, birthday parties etc. We also offer a busy Sunday lunch service, cater for a large number of society golf days, conferences and provide a daily snack menu, all within an impressive clubhouse and 100 plus cover function room.

The catering turnover has increased significantly over recent years, which the club is looking to maintain and build upon by attracting an enthusiastic new franchise catering operation.

The ideal candidate or company should:

Steward and Caterer Couple

Wolverhampton Cricket Club, located in Tettenhall is the oldest sports club in Wolverhampton, dating back to 1835.

Our Club played at various grounds around Wolverhampton before moving to its current site in 1890. Through the kind generosity of Mrs Swindley, whose family owned much of the green belt we see today in Tettenhall, the land was bequested to the Club in 1940, on the understanding that cricket was played there in perpetuity. 

The Club boasts having had some of the past “greats” play on the ground, including in 1911 a match between GE Jessop’s XI and HD Stratton’s Wolverhampton XI. Playing in this game were such luminaries as WG Grace and probably the best Staffordshire cricketer the county has ever produced, Sidney Barnes. A photograph of the players in this match is proudly displayed in the Clubhouse.

It now boasts a modern clubhouse rebuilt in 2007, with exceptional and spacious facilities.

We host 5 senior teams, 11 junior teams, 2 female teams and a visually impaired team and there is an active social membership of 150, which has grown by 20% this season.

Tettenhall Tennis Club is also situated in our ground, which has a playing and social membership and 3 football teams play on our site in the winter.

South Staffs Golf Club is situated directly opposite our premises, with whom we have a supportive relationship.

As well as providing teams with cricket teas during the season, the club caters for up to 100 diners seated for Sunday lunches.

In addition there are regular Rotary and Probus lunches, christenings, weddings, birthday parties, social events {both private and organised by the club,} sports events and wakes.

We have the main club measuring approximately 30m x  10m, which can be partitioned off to create 2 rooms, this contains the bar and both overlook the main cricket pitch. There are also 2 further rooms that can be self contained for private events or used as a larger room which also overlooks the main cricket pitch.

Disabled access to the club is from this room and directly outside is a large purpose built decking area, which has views over the main cricket wicket, suitable for outside dining, a drinks reception, barbeque or wheelchair viewing of high quality cricket.

We are seeking a forward thinking and self motivated couple looking to work with us to develop the tremendous potential of the club with both the food and beverage service.

Ideally, the successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following :

  • A  proven track record in catering management, preferably at a members club or successful restaurant.

The position is for a Managing Steward who will be responsible for the day to day management of the club with the following responsibilities:

  • Financial management- cash and card payment management, banking, cash reconciliation, security.
  • Stock management- cellar management, pipe cleaning, stock ordering and control, waste control
  • Staff management- employment, staff discipline, rota, performance and health and safety compliance
  • Security- opening & closing, safe management, alarm operation and testing

 We have a support team in place which includes an Assistant Manager and Senior bar person.

The club has an in house catering facility and we currently provide hot food  on Friday’s and Saturday’s with a carvery every Sunday lunchtime, there may be opportunity for a partner to assist with the restructuring of our catering organisation as we are considering a catering supervisors position. This will be based on a competitive hourly rate.

Our turnover is in excess of £500,000 p.a. and we offer a salary of £26-30k p.a.
