Hambro Semi-Finals Finals, 23rd July 2006

 

At Hintlesham in the Hambro Cup Semis, Ipswich fought back from a halfway deficit of five to beat 2005 winners Rushmere by 4 holes.

At Fynn Valley, Thorpeness came back strongly in the afternoon to overturn a narrow deficit at lunch and beat Hintlesham by 10 holes in the other Hambro Semi.

Hambro Final Washout, 13th August 2006

 

The Hambro Cup final, scheduled for completion today, was called off. Heavy overnight rain left several greens flooded and with more rain forecast, SGU officials had no other option. A new date is being investigated.

Tolly Cobbold Cup Semi-Finals

 

The Tolly Cobbold Semi match proved a tense encounter between Rushmere and Stoke by Nayland, being level after 18 and 36 holes. In a sudden death play-off, Stoke by Nayland triumphed at the 1st extra hole to book their place in the final.

In the second Tolly Cobbold semi, Cretingham reached their first ever County final after beating high-flying Thorpeness by 11.

Tolly Cobbold Cup Won by Stoke by Nayland at Felixtowe

 

Stoke by Nayland regained the Tolly Cobbold Cup at Felixstowe Ferry yesterday after a 5-year gap. Cretingham, playing in their first ever County matchplay final found themeselves 19 holes down at lunch. A brave effort in the afternoon could not retrieve the lunchtime situation and Stoke triumphed by 21 holes on the day.
