The day started (8am) on time despite the weather, with the first teams departing to their respective starting points, not surprisingly it was temporary greens and the rain continued to fall, at least it was not snow! Only 4 teams lasted the distance. The weather improved slightly for the afternoon starters and the scores also improved.
Congratulations to the first two people to get Hole in One’s – Jordan Woolf (on the 6th) and Gary Manning (on the 10th)
For our champagne buffet & disco 110 people attended, and after we had eaten, the captain presented the winning team (R Grant, S O’Sullivan, K Finn & Mrs R Ward) with their prizes. They beat (J May, R Fulton, G Manning & Mrs D Belcher) by 0.2 on exact handicap.
Sunday the 17th January – Centenary Launch Lunch
Well what a turn out 140+, and great costumes on display too. It was good to see so many people dressed up. The winners of the fancy dress were our President Gordon Catto and Gerry Archer.
A special mention should go to Gay Hawkes, Jan Cherry and Ron Jones, who with the help of the Centenary Committee ensured that both day’s run smoothly, they even managed to get the snow to melt on Friday night, that is after Peter Topping and the green staff spent the day removing the snow from the temporary greens. Thank you for your heroic efforts.
Don’t forget to send in your deposits for the Centenary Ball before the end of January
