Captains Invitational

 A High For Low

Friday July 14th 2017 the Great Yarmouth and Caister hosted a Captains invitational golf day and dinner sponsored by HKBWiltshires .

The golf competition was a two man Texas Scramble with a shot gun start. There was some incredible scoring posted.

The eventual winners were Michael Christophi and Richard Mison with a net score of 54.0 who pipped John Richardson and Iain Smith who were second with 54.5. The Captain played with Local hotelier Nick Mobbs aided and abetted by their dogs .Who Club manager Tim Starbuck christened “Dastardly and Mutley”  for the day.

The dinner to celebrate the Captains year saw the club present Alistair with a special award for his 50 years of membership at the Great Yarmouth and Caister golf club.

The golfing season is in mid flow and the prestigious Young Bogey cup was won by Darren Ward with a score plus 6 over the course.

The HKBWiltshires race to Royal Lytham continues and the current leaders Tom Rutherford 360 Scott Herd 351 and Robert Jones “the bones” with 343. With plenty of golf still to play there are a whole host of players queueing to take the top spot.

An informal match was arranged between GYAC and Stocks in Aldbury, Herts.
The team was organised by Martin Grimmer and the event organised by John
Richardson who is a member at Stocks as well as GYAC.  Unusually for a club
match it was played over 2 days in a Ryder Cup style, and the GYAC team were
victorious 5-3 winners.  The picture shows the team with the "Blob and Bogey
Trophy", as GYAC is the Home of Bogey and Stocks is infamous for high scores
"with a blob", the highest of which is 47 points - yes 47 - with a blob.

The Stocks course was in magnificent condition with very fast greens.
Interestingly this was the first home match Stocks has lost since the new
clubhouse opened exactly 5 years ago so well done to the team.

A return match also over 2 days is being scheduled for mid-September so if
anyone wants to play let the club/Martin/John know.
