Caister Juniors Competition, Sunday 22nd April 2012

 

The sun shone, the heavens opened in a deluge of water, the wind blew and then it hailed; four seasons weather in the space of three hours competition time. However, Caister Junior golfers are made of strong stuff and continued to pit their wits in a battle between their opponents and the elements. Five pairs took to the tee in a ten hole, Texas Scramble format competition. This was the first event to be held this year after the disappointment of cancelling the March fixture due to ( even worse! ) wet weather conditions.

 

The pairs were sorted by players’ handicaps and the final result was so close that the range of scores for the five teams was only five points. The Junior section is so humbling to watch as they carefully consider each stroke and execute them in a most proficient manner to achieve the very best score. The standard of play for the day was excellent and all participants should feel justifiably of their efforts.

Junior Match

 

Great Yarmouth & Caister Golf Club held its final Junior Match of the Year. Played in wonderful weather conditions with the course playing, as usual, at it's pristine best.

 

The match was played in good spirits with all teams showing great promise. The top three teams showed real determination and prevailed in a very competitive arena.

 

Results of the Match with the best two scores from teams of three to count, were:

1st : Alex Fellas, Harry Cribb and Tom Carding

2nd: Oliver Cribb, William Johnson and Ben Chapman

3rd: Jack Reeve, Jamie Bool and Martin Barnes

 

All the Juniors are looking forward to a happy Christmas and their next Competition outing on the Links which will be early January.
