Bob the Cat Trophy - 5th September 2010 - Sponsored by celebrity Rick Wakeman

 

This very popular competition is soon over subscribed as soon as the sign up sheet goes up on the noticeboard. The competition comprised of 28 teams of four playing four ball better ball Stapleford, three quarters handicap. Special scorecards for the day, plus an information sheet explained the various rules for various holes...e.g. Nearest the pin, longest drive, team score doubled, all 4 scores to count and irons only on the nineth.

 

Rick thanked everyone for playing, invited the club Captain Chris Castle to present the prizes and thanked the greens staff and caterers for a good job done.

 

Results:

1st team...called 'Bob the Cat' (coincidentally)...with 94 points: Phil Scott, Godfrey Batley, Alan Crowest, Lawrence Chapman

 

2nd The Burmese Cats...93 points : John Wall, Pauline Wall, John Burroughes, Lorna Burroughes

 

3rd The Kittens 92 points (ocb): Tony Brown, Pat Brown, Mike Clews, Chrissie Clews

4th The Moggies 92 points: David Bailey, John Lister, Barry Fisher, Phil Slapp.

Longest Drive Tom Bailey, (who also shot 66 for the day).

 

After the prize giving Rick introduced a friend of his...comedian Micky Travis who had the golfers roaring with laughter and amazed at his magic tricks. He almost had Jane Izod in stitches - he sawed her in half... Ha ha. And he showed Steve Biggs how to increase his money - that was funny too!
