John Mackrell is the Club Steward, while wife Lynne has the reponsibilty
of looking after the bar that boasts a fine selection of beers and other
beverages. There is a full A la Carte menu and daily specials which allows
you the choice of a snack or a four course meal. It really is the ideal place
to re-charge the batteries. |

|

| Social Committee Report |
We have had great successes with the Annual Ball, Christmas Party &
Burns Night. The Committee has donated £2500 to the Club who has purchased
new furniture for the entrance hall, new boards for the Captains, Presidents
& Juniors and has decorated both halls.
|
Jimmy Wood Memorial Horse Racing Night
A great night was had by all at the Jimmy Wood Memorial Horse Racing Night
with nearly £8000 raised for the Diss Branch of the British Heart
Foundation. A fitting achievement in memory of Jimmy, former social committee
chairman, who raised thousands for the charity. My thanks to everyone who
helped in any way and to the Golf Club for providing the venue.

Other Events
We have arranged a quiz night Friday 26th April, a new members evening Wednesday
1st May and hopefully a visit to the Victor Chandler Golf Tournament at Woburn
Sunday 2nd June.
|
We are planning a golf day on Saturday 22nd June for all members with
a BBQ to follow and a prize draw - 1st prize being travel vouchers worth
£200.
|
On 9th August we are visiting Newmarket Races - leaving the Club at 3.00
pm and returning late after 'head banging' to Status Quo who are playing
after the races!
