A delightful 9 hole course situated on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, a traditional members club steeped in history it was formed in the 1884. The home of Adnams and fabulous Fish and Chips
The 9 holes are situated on the common at Southwold home to a number of rabbits and a favoured walk for non golfers. Although the course is 9 holes it has 18 very different tee positions which dramatically changes the way that each hole is played. The sloping greens are true and quick and the sandy heathland course has great drainage which allows for golf all year round. The coastal winds add to the challenge and you will often finish the round with glow even when cloudy.
We think this is a great course to play, the only downside is that when we played in 2013, 2014 and 2015 the tees were not clearly signposted and at least one of our group was lost hunting for the 16th tee and may even still be found somewhere amongst the gorse brush and heather.
The common ground is full of walkers often with dogs which can be disconcerting if you wander off of the fairway, but do not let this put you off. The course is a delight and the traditional wooden club house very welcoming particularly if you enjoy a pint of the Adnams finest and good food.
