About Us
Beccles Golf Club is set on the heath to the north of the important Suffork market town of Beccles, Seen by many as the Suffolk Gateway to The Broads
The Golf Club has been in existance since 1899 and is a great place to play golf. The common is on the north side of the town with access via Common Lane. The club itself is voluntary run except for the wonderful part time greenkeeper who has transformed the greens back to their former glory.
The course consists of 9 holes varying from par 3’s through to a par 5, all laid out on what many call an inland links setting.
Although there are no bunkers or water on the course there is a lot of gorse and small, fast greens to make good course management a requirement for a good round.
The club is small but it is steadily growing including 27 juniors
who make up a third of the membership. The course is available for the public to play for a small green fee which covers them under the clubs public liability insurance.
During the week the green fees are £5 for adults and £2.50 for juniors and weekends and Bank Holidays are £10 and £5 respectively.

The Club is affiliated to the EGU and SGU and offer official CONGU handicaps to any one who is a member. There are competitions every week, of which a high percentage are handicap qualifiers and various social nights throughout the year. The course is normally restricted to members on Saturday mornings for competitions and Sunday mornings for junior coaching, which is open to non members and children who just want to come and try golf for the first time. The Club is open from 8am till dusk and all visitors are welcome but we do ask that all
consideration is given to the other common users.
Please contact Mr Ray Walding, Club Secretary on
01502 712244 or 07789 633530 for further
information.

The club is run by a voluntary workforce guided by the club committee, we prepare the course ourselves and its not unusal to see the Club and Lady Captains whipping the dew of the greens before a competition.
We have a old wooden pavillion clubhouse with a bar and function room, mens and ladies changing rooms. We do have social events at the
clubhouse including Presentation night, Summer disco and quiz nights
throughout the year, we are currently planning a New Years Eve party.
We play on a nine hole inland links type course with 9 casual mens tees, 18 competition mens tees and 9 ladies competition tees. Although we have no bunkers or water on the course we do have very small greens, lots of out of bounds and even more gorse, which many shots are played over!
The competition tees are par 68 with a sss 66. We do have an ex
Professional Golfer as a member, Syer Shulver and he holds the course
record of 65!!!
The Green Fees are £5 during the week and £10 at weekends and Bank Holidays
