The British Pitch & Putt Association Stroke Play Championships were held on Sunday, 15th June, 2008 at the Centenary Park Par 3 Golf Course in Culver Grove, Kenton.
Darragh Mooney, course manager, ensured the course was in first class condition and the dry, sunny weather gave all players a tough course to conquer.
The winner of the Men’s Championship played over 54 holes was Anthony O’Brien who was favourite following two rounds of 52 and 58 and went on to score level par overall to become British Champion. Runner Up was Savio Fernandes, from the home club, scoring 6 over, and third was Steve Deeble, Dagenham, 11 over.
The British Junior Championship was won by 15 year old Harry Lambert from Dagenham, the Ladies Championship by Doreen Powell from Abbotsley, and the Senior Championship was retained by Ron Cope from Dagenham.
The excellent play produced two holes in one: Anthony O’Brien on the 6th and Daniel Landers on the 9th.
