Arkley has put a great deal of effort into expanding the Junior section and integrating them into the Club by allowing cadets with a handicap of 16 or under (36 for Ladies) to enter Club Competitions. As a result of this, this year's President's Prize was won by two members of the Junior section.
Sebastian Yoshida, aged 14, scooped the gents' first prize playing off 13, whilst Debbie Phillips, aged 16, won the ladies prize. The competition is run over 2 weekends with both medal rounds counting towards a cumulative total. This year's event took pace on Saturday 7th and Saturday 14th September.
Seb, who was playing off 18 at the start of the season, shot a gross 75 in the first round (nett 62) and a gross 85 in the second to give a combined nett score of 134, winning by 3 points. Debbie, who started the season off 41, playing off 33, netted a 68 in the first round followed by a second round 76 to score 144, winning by 8 shots.

President of Arkley Golf Club, Mr Rob Saffery, was thrilled to see two of the young hopefuls of the future lift the trophies. Accepting their trophies, both Seb and Debbie thanked all involved with junior golf in the club for their support. All juniors at the club are under the watchful eye of PGA Professional Martin Porter. When Martin joined the club just over 6 years ago there were only 12 cadets. Thanks to his efforts there are now 45 junior members. The juniors are also into their second season in the South West Herts Junior League, finishing 3rd last year out of 9 teams.
